Mechanism of Action

Ipamorelin binds selectively to the ghrelin/GH secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a) on anterior pituitary somatotroph cells, mimicking the natural ghrelin signal to trigger GH release via a calcium-dependent intracellular signalling cascade involving protein kinase C and inositol trisphosphate.

Crucially, Ipamorelin’s binding selectivity is significantly higher than GHRP-2 or GHRP-6, meaning it does not activate the ACTH/cortisol axis or stimulate prolactin secretion at doses producing peak GH responses.
